CENTR has published their report covering domain names globally for Q4 2019.
The overall picture is positive, with a 3% growth year on year.
Within Europe growth rates were also up compared to the previous year, though they’re still lower than the global growth rate (1.6% vs 3%).
CENTR has also started tracking retail pricing of domain names, as well as special offers from retail registrars. So the median retail price is EUR 13.60, which drops to EUR 6 when looking at discounts and promotions.
You can grab the full report in PDF from the CENTR site or explore an interactive version here.
It’ll be interesting to see how those numbers look over the next few quarters as the impact of the pandemic will impact both new registration volumes as well as renewal rates. (It’s not clear whether those numbers will be up or down yet, but they’ll definitely be impacted!)
