The full schedule for the upcoming ICANN meeting in Hamburg has been published.
ICANN’s 3rd meeting of 2023 is being held later this month in the German city of Hamburg.
As it’s the 3rd and final meeting of the year it’s also the organisation’s AGM. While that might not sound exciting, and really isn’t unless you are super bored, it does mean that it’s the time of the year when various roles are taken over by “new” people. Realistically though many of the “new” people probably aren’t that new at all and have been around for many years…
As ever the meeting is open to all and registration is free. You will need to register in advance as ICANN has taken to not offering onsite registrations and actually closes registrations a couple of days in advance of the event these days.
The schedule is being run out of Sched, which works pretty well in my experience.
So what’s on the menu?
In no particular order there is:
- New TLDs – a new round of them will be launching in the future
- DNS Abuse – this has been a “hot” topic for the last few years and doesn’t seem to be going away
- RAA and RA amendments – this is linked to DNS abuse and will be put to a vote by all registries and registrars in the coming weeks
- Registration data aka Whois – always a “fun” topic
- Universal acceptance – making all domains work with all software
And as the meeting is being held in Europe there’s obviously a focus on issues of regional importance, so you can expect to see a variety of sessions with a very European angle to them.
