DNS Belgium, who run the Belgian country code domain name registry (.be), have opened a call for applications to their registrar forum. The forum gives the registry an opportunity to present upcoming or proposed changes to their processes and policies and get feedback from their channel partners. In the current climate with a growing number of regulations impacting domains, such as NIS2 and the ever changing technical landscape this kind of forum is more important than ever.
At present there are 5 openings on the registrar forum which is open to employees of any .be registrar.
The forum can have up to 20 members and currently has 16, who are drawn from registrars of all shapes and sizes from across Europe. You can see who the current members are here.
The group meets twice a year in person, with the registry covering the costs of attendance by participants (within some limits)
Members are given an initial 3 year mandate, which is renewal for a further 3 year stint.
You can read the full details of the registrar forum as outlined here (PDF)
Being a member of this kind of forum can be really interesting and quite satisfying based on my own experience with .eu and .ie. It is key, however, that if you engage in something like this that you do so in an open and collaborative fashion ie. you should try to set aside personal gain and look at the bigger picture where possible.
Applications close on March 14th 2025.
