UK domain company CentralNic will announce tomorrow its plans to float on London’s AIM.
In an interview with the Telegraph CentralNic’s CEO Ben Crawford outlines the company’s plans which should be announced officially tomorrow.
The entire play is based around CentralNic’s new TLD business. The company is providing registry backend services for a number of applications and has interests in others, bringing a total of 60 potential strings on to its roster.
In the Telegraph article Crawford underlines the company’s British roots:
We looked around a lot, we went over to the States but we decided that London made more sense, the world’s changing and London’s becoming a technology centre. We have been serving the world from here and we have a highly responsive investment community
He’s also very upbeat about the potential of new TLDs, though that’s hardly surprising:
It’s really all about a massive change to the internet, allowing a British company like us to compete with the traditional companies that have dominated the market,” Mr Crawford said. “The demand [for these new domain endings] is there, the growth that is underlining it is internet penetration which is going up massively
The “traditional companies” would of course be Verisign, Afilias and Neustar.
