ICANN is hiring a “Registrar Services and Engagement Manager” in EMEA.
The role, which is based in ICANN’s Istanbul offices, comes as a result of the previous manager departing.
So what’s the job involve?
ICANN describe it as having two key functions “development and management of ICANN’s relationships with ICANN-accredited registrars in the Europe, Middle-East and Africa region and implementation of new policies and services affecting registrars”.
So anyone who lands the job would be expected to deal with registrars across the entire region, which would probably involve a certain amount of travel.
The last person in the role spoke several languages and anyone who hopes to fill her shoes would need to have strong language skills. ICANN’s job listing suggests that English plus one other language would suffice, but more languages would definitely benefit anyone interested.
They’re also suggesting that having a business or legal background could be advantageous.
Unfortunately there’s no indication of the salary scale, but with the role being advertised for Istanbul it’s probably lower than what you’d get in Western Europe or the US.
