Nominet have announced the appointment of Russell Haworth as their new CEO. Mr Haworth will join the company in January 2015. Mr Haworth was most recently Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Thomson Reuters. He'd been with the company in a variety of roles since 2000. The .uk launch today has been getting quite a bit of press coverage. Getting a big name celebrity like Stephen Fry to endorse the shorter namespace is also a nice win for Nominet. Domain name registrations directly under .uk launch tomorrow morning at 0800 London / Dublin time. Nominet, the .uk registry, have put in place a "grandfathering" system to decide who has the right to register a .uk domain name.
