New TLD Advocates Circulate Open Letter / Petition To ICANN Board

June 15, 2011 by Michele Neylon

Next week's ICANN meeting in Singapore could herald the official launch of the new TLD process. ICANN's board might decide to give the entire thing a "green light". If you think that signing on to the letter and the … [Read more...] about New TLD Advocates Circulate Open Letter / Petition To ICANN Board

June 7, 2011 by Michele Neylon

Craig Schwartz has been headhunted by BITS. Seemingly they're planning on bidding to run a .bank domain extension so adding Craig to their staff wouldn't be such a bad idea However isn't there a small bit of conflict of interest? Should senior ICANN staffers be running off to work for prospective registry operators? … [Read more...] about Senior ICANN Staffer Leaves To Join .Bank – Conflict of Interest Anyone?

ICANN Hires New CSO – Jeff Moss

April 28, 2011 by Michele Neylon

ICANN has apparently hired Jeff Moss (aka Dark Tangent) as CSO. Moss is a well known figure in the internet security community and was founder of Black Hat and the Def Con conferences. However isn't Moss a bit conflicted? Isn't he on one of the review teams? So how can he work for ICANN whilst also reviewing it? I suspect this will be clarified when a more official … [Read more...] about ICANN Hires New CSO – Jeff Moss
